Hari Om Parents and Children!
Sorry for the delay in sending this out. Below is a summary of what we did on our Oct 21st Sunday morning session. We had a short class followed by a special Saraswati Puja in the temple. All our little kids did an awesome job of not only sitting through the Puja but also keenly participating in it!
Class Summary:
- We started our class with our 3 Oms and 3 Chants listed below
Om Sri Ganeshaya namaha, Om Sri Saraswathye namaha, Om Sri Sat Gurubyoh namaha
- We talked about Goddess Saraswati and while looking at her picture identified things unique to her such as -- white saree, one hand holding the Veena, other hand holding japa mala and the book. We then did the following two shlokas:-
1) Vakratunda Mahaakaaya sooryakoti samaprabha nirvighnam kurume deva sarva karyeshu sarvada
2) saraswati namastubhyam varade kAmarUpiNI vidyarambham karishyAmI siddhirbhavatume sadA
- We did our regular Yoga stretches and poses after which we did our meditation game. The kids are really enjoying counting the numbers in Sanskrit. We sang two bhajans.
1) gaṇeśa śaraṇam, śaraṇam gaṇeśa. gaṇeśa śaraṇam, śaraṇam gaṇeśa.
vāgīśa śaraṇam, śaraṇam vāgīśa. vāgīśa śaraṇam, śaraṇam vāgīśa.sārīśa śaraṇam, śaraṇam sārīśa. sārīśa śaraṇam, śaraṇam sārīśa.2) jaya jaya devii, jaya jaya devii, durgaa devii sharaNam

- We moved on to chanting the Bhagavad Gita : Chapter 18 41st and 42nd Shloka from our handbook. Kids have really picked up on the chanting and a few even have it memorized! Great work kiddos!!
- We wrapped up our session early and moved to the temple for the special Saraswati Puja.
It is really nice to see all our kids dressed so beautifully for the Puja! Hope to see you all at the Walkathon on Sunday!

$25/walker and the funds raised goes to CORD. Raffle prizes for the most number of pledges collected. Please note that the walkathon is followed by Field Day activities. Please make sure you register for the walkathon. And Yes - Please bring in all your friends and family members!!! We will be there that day and we look forward to seeing all of you at the walkathon!!
