May 3, 2019 - Grade 9 (Friday)

Hari Om! Parents,

This week we are celebrating Pujya Grudev’s 103rd birthday.

We started our class with the beginning prayers followed by,
Bhadram Karne bhih…

This week our class was a short one, so we showed an episode of Upanishad Ganga titled ‘Yoga of Action’
Discussed the episode based on the following points:
Guru bhakti: Being Gurudev’s birthday this week we discussed devotion to our gurus
The episode showed Swami Haridas who was a great musician and a devotee of consort of Shri Krishna, Radha
Tansen was his disciple and a great singer
His reputation brought him to the court of Akbar, the Moghul emperor, who had a galaxy of musicians and scholars in his court
Akbar’s favorite was Tansen, who got the title Sangeet Samrat Tansen and was a jewel in his court. Moved by Tansen’s singing, Akbar declared Tansen as the greatest
Tansen replied, “compared to my guru, I am nothing. Discussed devotion and service to the guru is the highest service
Akbar, wanted to hear Haridas sing. But Haridas refuses to come to the royal court
So Akbar travels to Vrindavan where Haridas lived to hear him sing. He agreed with Tansen that his guru was a better singer and asked the the reason for the same.
Tansen replies, My guru sings for the lord, and wants to please the lord, and I sing for you to please you.
Discussed actions performed in the spirit of Karma yoga are totally divinized
Discussed, The actions or duty should be performed as a worship to the lord and the results to be accepted as his blessings
Will be continuing this discussion with an example of Hanuman ji
Hanuman ji’s potential manifested only when he came in contact with Shri Rama and dedicated himself to the lord’s service
He was capable of great feats and was transformed into Ramdoota Hanuman
Children performed Guru Paduka Pooja at the temple with the priest guiding them.
