Hari Om Everyone!
In yesterday's class, we started as usual with the opening prayers, and we chanted the Lakshmi Ashtakam. We then chanted what we have learned so far of the Mahishasura Mardini and learned the 8th verse.
As you all probably know, our class is joining with the Friday session 6th grade class to put on a performance about India: The Sacred Land on Friday, May 10th. If you have any conflict that will not allow you to be present on this date or will not allow you to be present regularly during Balavihar classes, please let us know as soon as possible.
Every student has been assigned their roles, as was sent out in a previous email. We told the students to prepare their lines for yesterday's class, but not everyone had done so. We request that everyone sends in their lines with any revisions we suggested to either Shasi Aunty or myself via Whatsapp or email by Thursday. The lines must come out to about 20 seconds per student. It is critical that we have the information by Thursday because we need to discuss with the other teachers about the play. I am including information about what each role is responsible for speaking about again:
- Female - must talk about the significance of the state (this can include information such as commerce, what the state is most known for, or any other notable information), the attire, and the language of that state
- Male - must talk about the cuisine of that state (include specific names of dishes and explain briefly what they are)
- Saint - must pick a saint that is historically significant to the state and speak briefly about them
- Devotee - must talk about the temples of that state
Please remember to keep it brief (20 seconds per student). The time limit is important since we only have a certain amount of stage time and a number of students to speak. We recommend that your student practices speaking and timing it before they send it to us.
We concluded the class by chanting verses 41-60 of Chapter 18 of the Bhagavad Gita.
As always, you can reach out to either Shasi Aunty or myself with the following contact information. Let us know if you are not part of the class Whatsapp group.
