Hariom Parents,
We are just about the middle of our Balavihar academic year. Thus, we chose to dedicate a large portion of our class today to doing Geeta chanting in the class. We have completed listening and learning verses 41 to 60 of Chapter 18 Geeta chanting from our Swamiji. So this was a good test to see if we could chant ourselves.
We started the class with our regular starting prayers and after attendance we practiced chanting of verses 41 to 60 few times together as a class. I wish we could memorize and chant without looking the text but the class is not there yet. Thus we were reading from our handbook and chanting. After the initial practice we rearranged the seating of the class to enable the video recording and then as the class chanted together. We recorded the video to share with you all. It was an amazing performance and happy to see all of them chanting together. Click to view the recorded video. Appreciate any feedback you may have on this performance by the children.
We then did a brief review of the Mahabharata story we covered so far….the last few days of the Kurukshetra war. The discussion mainly was around Drona and Karna parva. We plan to cover the Shalya and other Parva in the next class. We should be able to finish the Mahabharata in the next few classes in Feb. It would surely be a milestone when we get there. We have some interesting games and video viewing planned to do a quick review of the whole Mahabharata after we finish discussing the balance of the Mahabharata…
As always, we concluded the day with Geeta chanting with Swamiji leading us on video.
