Dear Parents,
The year started off with the promise of new adventure! Ours being the fact that we had a monthly program due on the 11th, and a class of 27 showing utmost cooperation and enthusiasm. As teachers, we felt it was our duty to let the children take the lead.
After a few rounds of discussion, a quiz program seemed like the logical decision. The theme was the Mahabharata!
It was decided that we would make it a quiz with a twist, which would let all our students participate. The children were divided into various groups - one group to create the questions, one to do scoring and timing, one set to do enactment, and one for presentation. After a round of tests, four 7th graders and eight 6th graders were chosen to participate. They were divided into four teams of 3 each.
The three rounds were:
1. Regular question and answer
2. Enactment - where a 5th grader would enact a scene, to be guessed by the teams.
3. Draw and guess - a team member would draw on the board for their own team to guess the answer.
The program went off well and we had good feedback from Swamiji and the other Bala Vihar teachers. The link to the photos for the event:
We are very fortunate to have this wonderful group of children, to teach and learn from these eager minds.
Thank you, dear parents, for your patience. See you all this Friday, Jan 25th, as we resume the Mahabharata.
Pranāms,
Vandana and Nivedita
