Summary: We had a very interesting class. We learnt about how our repeated choices make a lasting impact on us. We likened the mind to a dish filled with dough, soft and pliant. When we draw a line across the middle of the dish through the soft dough, it makes a small scratch and if we go over it repeatedly it forms a deeper channel. If we pour some water on the dish, it will automatically first go through the channel we created. This water is likened to the flow of thoughts in our mind. If we create a positive channel, the flow of thought would be positive. We also discussed about how we understand the objective world through our 5 sense organs which then takes this knowledge to the subjective mind aka intellect to process and then react/interact with the outside world. If our objective and subjective minds are in harmony, then we are peaceful. If there is a rift between the two, there is a sense of agitation. We discussed Vasanas which are created by the repeated choices we make in our action. Our past actions are the cause for our Vasanas. Vasanas, in turn, determine our actions. Our present birth is the result of our actions in the previous birth and Vasanas. It is a bit of an abstract concept and we will slowly continue to understand it as we progress through the year. For now we understand that we have to make the right choices and do the right actions and always have an attitude of gratitude for the good life we have been blessed with. Please discuss with your children to know their thoughts on the topic. Congratulations to Abhinav, Anant, Karthik and Navneet for participating and winning some prizes in the quiz conducted by Grade 5! Go Bajrangi Bolts!
