Hari OM,
Dear Parents,
We had our 15th Balavihar session on Sunday, January 27th. Our next class is on February 3rd..
We started our class at 9:15 with opening Prayers. We had 18 students in class. Please note item #4 below. We need your help to make this seva project a success. We will discuss more about this project and the concept of seva in our next class.
Our topics for this week:
1. We recorded (video) the class chanting six slokas from Bhagavad Gita Chapter 18; verse 41 - 46. Almost half of the children had these memorized. We encouraged all of them to continue practicing at home. They may need some help to "un-chunk" some of the blended sounds. Thank you for continuing to practice these verses at home. We will putting a lot more emphasis on this in upcoming classes with the goal of encouraging every child to participate in the Geetha Chanting Yagna that takes place in the Spring. If you know that your child is challenged with memorizing, please encourage them to continue with the chanting with the text in front of them and allow them to read for now. We compared the video we took this week to one the one we did at the start of class last year. It is amazing how much more volume, clarity and resonance there is now. All your efforts in practicing at home is evident.
2. We also practiced the Govinda Damodara Stotram.
3. We read and discussed the story of Brahmaji's Moha Bangam
4. We have an upcoming Seva Project for the class. Our balavihar/ashram has been doing annadaanam/Soup kitchen (food donation) for the homeless from different grades each month. Grade 4 is scheduled for this month. It is on Saturday, February 16, 2019. Please see the link below for the items that can be donated, etc. Scroll down the sign-up genius list, and sign up for the items you would like to contribute. Please drop off the items well within the mentioned time. Kindly check the time and place to drop in the sign up sheet. Parents and kids who are interested can go to the soup kitchen directly and serve as well, address is posted in the sign up sheet as well! It is always appreciated and valued - upholding what our pledge says 'giving more than what we take...'! Thanks in advance for your generous donations.
