We started our class with our opening prayers, followed by the vedic chant of Om namate astu bhagavan…
We chanted and recorded verses 51 to 58 form Ch. 18 of the Bhagavad Gita.
We also chanted verse 59 and 60 along with Swami ji from the same chapter
Our topic for this week was on Sraddha and don’t covet anyone’s wealth
We talked about sraddha or faith in the words of the guru and in our scriptures
We discussed, if we have conviction in the above, we can surely reach our destination
We told many stories such as of the children being trapped in the cave in Thailand
How faith and meditation saved them from their ordeal
Also told stories of the lives of great people like Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Rabindranath Tagore and Helen Keller and how their faith helped them do great things
We concluded that with faith and right attitude, God will open new doors
Also concluded to believe in oneself, to work hard and achieve true success
For the second topic we discussed :
What one gains in life is according to their karma
If we steal or take away some else’s belongings, it is greed
Also talked about embracing the whole world as one family, ”Vasudeva Kutumbabam”
Told the story of Satyakama and Gautama Rishi
Finally we concluded that all the values we are learning every week are all extensions of Ahimsa
By practicing ahimsa, practicing other values and living by dharma becomes easy
We are getting ready for our play on March 8th
We met again on Sunday to write the script of our play
