We had another week of exciting session of Balavihar with Grade 6th Youths
We started our class with our opening prayers, and Ganesha Bhajans.
- Initial topic was India and we talked about National,bird,animal,flower,emblem, Ashoka chakra, flag and National anthem. more than half the class knew all about it and also our anthem. but we did not learn that in that class.
- Since the weekend was Pongal festivities we discussed about it and requested kids to participate on January 19th celebration at ashram. Talked about the voulnteer /seva for the class during the event and wrote down kids names who were able to take part in the seva.
- After that went to Mahabharatha story. we have covered up to Bhishma's fall during our last class and this time we talked about Drona taking charge. Abimanyu's bravery and his killing was narrated and it was a bit emotional. In this episode there were lot of rules that were broken and ended in an adharmic warfare. we talked about back story of his learning Vyuha and Jayadratha 's father's boon to his son.we ended the class by Arjuna slaying Jayadratha.
- We also had Geetha chanting and we finished early for 5th grade's play
Also seven children from our class took part in the 5th grade play.
Our next balavihar class is on Jan 25th
