Quote for the day: "Desires are never quenched by enjoyment. It rather inflames them, as clarified butter does fire."

  Summary:
We discussed the quote "Desires are never quenched by enjoyment. It rather inflames them, as clarified butter does fire." We explained to them that as we enjoy more, the desire only increases. When we   discussed the Ramayana portion for the class which was Shoorpanaka episode, we connected related to the quote. That Shoorpanaka's character was unduly desirous of getting Rama. Children had several questions for eg. why did Lakshmana cut off Shoorpanaka's nose instead of hands or limbs? And why Lakshmana was so cruel?
We explained that it was Lakshmana's way of defending /protecting Rama from her evil intentions and deceit. And symbolically, it wand   cutting the nose meant shattering her ego.
We chanted Bhagavat Gita. It is good to note that most kids are able to read the verses with comfort. Please encourage them to do so.

Also for next class, have them bring a notebook to take notes from each class. This way they will have some takeaways and will pay more attention in the class.
