11/12/18

Nov 11, 2018 - Grade 9 (AM Sunday)

Hari om everyone,

We started with our regular meditation for 5 mins.  Reviewed what we had been talking about so far.

Today's discussions were very interesting (as always, we must say :).  We furthered our conversation about the 'adhaara grantha-s' (supporting texts) of sanaatana dharma.

Then we continued on with 'karma siddhanta'.  We spoke about how our every action and thoughts even, have an impact on the outcome of life.

The goal of being born, especially as humans, is to graduate/break-free from this cycle of birth and death.  Right now, we are blessed with this human form which is the only time where there is an exit door.  Any other birth, one would only be exhausting the accumulated 'vaasana-s'.  At this point, we discussed what 'vaasana-s' truly are?  They are the grooves we create in the fabric of our existence by continuously contemplating on them (material thoughts).  The more such grooves one has, the more sufferings and birth cycles.  We have discussed this elaborately with examples, etc.

Learnt BG 18, verses 51 and 52.  Will send the recordings once we reach 55.  Until then, keep practising the ones you already have the recording for (till 50).

Please discuss and instigate a conversation with your children to reinforce their understanding.

Next week, we will be working on a 'Seva Project' - 'Making Thanksgiving baskets'.  Donations from patrons are pouring in.  The onus is on us 9th graders to prepare nice baskets and keep them ready to be picked by HomeFront.  These baskets will be distributed by them to the needy.  We will be working on this project after Bala Vihar.  After aarati and pledge, please come back to the lobby.  You will find us there.  The time for this is 11:00 to 12:00 pm on Sunday the 18th.  (Those of you attending language classes, please let your teachers know that you will not be able to attend class due to the seva project.)

Look forward to seeing you all on Sunday. Happy week.

Regards,
Rashmi and Sitaram.
