Hari Om parents,
The topics from our Nov 11th class included, Opening prayer, Guru stotram, Govinda Damodara stotram, the story of Aghasura vadha, water and fire from My 24 teachers and finally Bhagavad Gita slokas 47 and 48 with Swamiji's guidance.
We are done learning the 8 slokas of the latter stotram and will work on memorizing the same.
More then half of the class can recite Guru stotram without any aid which is highly impressive.
Each week we start our 24 guru's topic with a riddle and almost all of the kids are quite eager to solve it and always tend to get the right answer.
This week we learnt about WATER and FIRE. Just as it is water's nature to purify, cleanse and quench the thirst, so do good people cleanse and revive others by their good deeds and thoughts.
We narrated a couple stories which teaches the moral to speak sweet and kind words, to be nice to others so they will be nice in return.
We talked about how fire was discovered and the moral that it teaches, which is, when treated with respect it could be a man's best friend.
Kids had a lot of scientific inputs to share with us which made the topics even more interesting :-)
Krishna's story this week is about killing the demon Aghasura who comes disguised as a huge Python with the intention of eating Krishna and the gopas and also avenging the death of his siblings Putana and Bakasura.
Krishna knows about his death trap, and rescues the gopas by choking and killing him.
We also covered another story of Lord Brahma's Moha bhanga. Lord Brahma witnesses Krishna's tricks and his extraordinary prowess and sets to play a mischief himself on Lord Krishna, so he hides all the gopas and the calves in a cave, but Krishna Bhagavan multiplies himself and assumes the exact forms of gopas and claves, handling the tricky situation with his maya only to make Lord Brahma realize his mistake. Kids learnt about humility and how showing off gets them in trouble.
