11/12/18

Nov 11, 2018 - Grade 7 (AM Sunday)

HariOm parents,

We had a fantastic session this morning. Following are the key points of today's session :
Opening prayers: Om saha naavavatu and Guru strotam.
Meditation followed by focus exercise
Quote of the dayPlan out your work, then work out your plan. The former without the latter is a sheer waste. The latter without the former is mere unproductive confusion.
Here is what some of our students had to say:
Avani :  You just can't make an elaborate plan and then not carry it out. But you also can't rush into your work without knowing what you are going to do. Ex: you can't make a goal and decide how to achieve it, but then never do it. You can't write a story without knowing the basic plot.
Ishaan Kashi: You should set a high goal and then you plan the path. But if you don't follow your plan, then its waste of time. You shouldn't just start some thing without planning. Ex: Making a healthy diet plan but not following it or just eating healthy with out a proper schedule might cause you to over eat.
Ishaan Mungikar: This quote represents how there needs to be a structured process. If we were to plan out work, we need to have an equal sense of execution.
Sachit Hegde: This quote expresses formality of working and planning ahead what to do.If you don't follow the plan, you waste time and you wont know what to do if you don't plan ahead of time.
Pranav Joshi: First you must know what to di before you do it. You must do both planning and acting to be successful.
Shlokas: Sri Ram, Ram Rameti , Neelambhuja shyamala komalangam
Ramayana story: We recapped the last week's class and continued with the story of Ganga- the daughter of Himavan, Story of Sagara and his 60,000 cursed sons and finally story of Bhagiradha the great king who brought River Ganges to Earth from the heaven. He did penance for several years with great perseverance to gain the release his 60,000 great-uncles from the curse of sage Kapila which eventually led to descent of the goddess Ganga in the form of the river Ganges, to the earth. We also discussed about perseverance the greatest trait to succeed. We talked about the quote of Albert Einstein - " It's not that I am so smart, it's just that I stay with problems longer ". We also learnt 2 other names of Ganga - Bhagirathi ( The one who followed Bhagiradha)  and Jahnavi ( daughter of Sage Jahnu - as she was consumed  by Sage Jahnu but released from his ear)
Bhagwat Geeta Chanting with Swamiji
Jeopardy on Ramayana:  We played Jeopardy on Ramayana. All four teams competed very close and had lot of fun.
The class ended with aarti and pledge in temple.
Thank You,
Suma and Ruchi
