Sep 30, 2018 - Toddler / Pre K (PM Sunday)

Dear Parents,
Hari Om !
This week's class started with opening prayers and Hari Om game.
We did our stretches and yoga. Kids did the turtle pose and the snake pose and enjoyed saying HARI OM at the count of 5.
We chanted the following:
श्री गणेशाय नमः
oṃ śrī gaṇeśāya namaḥ
श्री सरस्वत्यै नमः
oṃ śrī sarasvatyai namaḥ
श्री सत् गुरुभ्यो नमः
oṃ śrī sat gurubhyo namaḥ
We revised karāgre shloka which we learned in our previous class.
We discussed about Goddess Sarasvati and while looking at her poster,  kids identified the things unique to her – White saree, 2 hands holding Veena, the other hands holding japa mala and the book and her vahana - swan.
Visualizing these features we repeated the new shloka - sarasvati namastubhyaṃ.
सरस्वति नमस्तुभ्यं वरदे कामरूपिणि ।
विद्यारम्भं करिष्यामि सिद्धिर्भवतु मे सदा ।।
sarasvati namastubhya varade kāmarūpii ।
vidyārambha kariyāmi siddhirbhavatu me sadā
By chanting this shloka, we are offering our salutations to Goddess Saraswathi, the giver of boons, the one who fulfills desires. As we begin our studies, may there always be accomplishments for us.
We practiced our 2 bhajans : Ganesha saranam and Great God Ganapathi(action song) learned in the previous class. We recited a new bhajan – Jaya Jaya Devi.
Note: All the slokas and bhajans we learn in our class are in "My Prayers" book.
We chanted Bhagavad Gita chapter 18 -  41st and 42nd  sloka from our handbook. At home, please watch this video on youtube and practice the Verses 41 and 42.
Played meditation game and revised the Sanskrit numbers.
We all enjoyed the story "The Thirsty Crow" which conveys how our minds can be our best friends and always help us in time of need.
Kids had fun putting together the "Crow craft" with wings that can move.
As supplemental activities, We learned colors in Sanskrit and learned/sang  various parts of the body in Sanskrit to the tune "Head shoulders knees and toes".
We attended the Balavihar House inauguration in the auditorium.  As a house competition activity, we built word bracelets. We are very happy to announce that we scored 329 points and stood in first place. Congratulations to BHAJARANGI BOLTS!!
We attended closing prayers at the Temple.
