Hari Om Parents,
Our 12:45 class has seen a steady increase in the number of students. We currently have 19 kids.
Our topics today included, naming ceremony of lord Krishna and Balarama and their mischievous actions in Gokula as toddlers. Try to ask the kids the meaning of their names and we hope they would be able to tell you. We talked about all the naughty ways in which Krishna used to steal butter, milk and curd from gopi's houses and then how he got away with the punishment from his mother Yashoda, by making innocent faces. Krishna always used to share whatever he got with friends and animals alike, through this kids learnt the importance of SHARING.
We also started the other book, My 24 teachers, contrary to what we thought earlier of doing it during the second half of the year.
We explained the kids how anyone or for that matter anything in nature could be a teacher.
The first chapter of this book was about Mother Earth and what we could learn from her. The main virtues that mother teaches are PATIENCE and FORGIVENESS , we told stories relating to these and gave them examples of where they could be applied.
After the Om chanting and opening prayer we recite Guru stotram every class. We learnt the 3rd and 4th slokams of Govinda Damodara stotram and recited 45th and 46th slokas of Bhagavad Gita from Swaminiji's video. Please have them practice at home. We will have Geeta Chanting and Slokathon competitions going forward and the kids can earn points to our Krishna's Cowboys team. We also recited the Maha Mruthyumjaya Mantram.
A small request to the parents is to bring the kids on time (most of them are) In case you are running late and we are in the middle of the meditation and opening prayer sessions, please refrain from entering the room as the other kids get distracted. You can send them in once we are done with the prayer.
Also, make sure the kid attends the arati at the end of the class.
Kindly have your kids carry a notebook, pencil and eraser in their bags. We sometimes make them do Likhita japa and most have them don't seem to have these.
Garbha Night:- We encourage kids and parents alike to attend this event on October 13th, between 7-11 PM at Chinmaya ashram.
