10/20/18

Oct 19, 2018 - Grade 7 (Friday)

Hari Om!

Dear Parents,
We had a short class on 10/19 followed by Saraswati Poojs in the temple hall. It was nice to have an almost full house (22 kids)! Below is the update of our class on Friday (10/19) .

Opening prayers: Om Sahana Vavatu
                              Vakratunda Mahakaaya
                              Saraswathi Namastubhyam
                              Guru Brahma Gurur VishnuH
                               Neelambuja Shyamala Komalaangam (Rama Shloka)

Quote for the day: "Don not put the keys to your happiness in someone else's pocket."

  Summary:
We started the class with the opening shlokas. We did a recap of the Ramayana story . Then discussed the quote "Do not put the keys to your happiness in someone       else's pocket." Children had varied interpretations of the quote. Some thought it meant  "you need to take care of yourself and  be happy before making others happy". Some thought it meant "your happiness does not depend on others". Some thought "you should not rely on others for your happiness" . Aanadhi aunty shared the Benz Car Story that Swamiji had shared to explain  that "Happiness is within us and not on a thing or anything external".
Ask your children what the story was :). In our version, Rohan was made the hero in the story and the car chosen was a red Ferrari!!

Each child did the Saraswathi  Pooja at the temple, led by the priest. Children got to repeat the chant. Swamiji also addressed the kids.
