Dear Parents,
Welcome to Chinmaya Vrindavan Balavihar - SUN1245 session - 3rd Grade.
You might have already received a 'Welcome Letter' handed out in our first class; if not please find attached 'Welcome Letter'.
Our class began with an opening prayer and had class introductions. We quickly enquired and shared what we did in summer.
We discussed:
Ground rules for the class - treating one another with respect, paying attention to the teachers, the importance of being on time and attending Balavihar regularly.
Attendance - We take attendance in every class and we asked the kids to respond with 'Hari Om' when their name is called out.
The topic of the Day: We discussed various Indian festivals that the kids were aware of and then we focused on 'Ganesh Chaturthi'. Kids learned about the importance of Ganesh Chaturthi, shared their understanding of Ganesha. Kids, quite enthusiastically, enjoyed the story "Ganesha goes to Kubera's party'. If your child had not already informed you, please enquire what they learned from this story.
Kids chanted the sloka " vakra tuNDa mahaakaaya..." and learned the meaning and importance of this sloka. In this context, we also discussed various attributes, qualities, the symbolism of Ganesha and what HE represents.
We also did a small Ganesha bhajan led by an enthusiastic kid - Kashyap.
Fun Part: Kids had an opportunity to show off favorite 'fortnite' dance moves and were quite excited to present his or her talent. I promised to perform my favorite fortnite dance at the end of the class year, take a video of their favorite dance moves; provided they learn and behave well in class.
Next Class (9/16/2018): We will discuss Avataras (Dasavataras of Lord Vishnu) and start with the introduction of bala Bhagavatam. We will start to learn GuruStoram. We will also learn to chant a couple of mantras and kids will do Likitha Japa. Please make sure your child has a notebook, pencils, an eraser and a small pack of crayons. Please be on time. Don't miss class as we may learn/practice 'Orange Justice' (a fortnite dance move).
