Hari Om Parents and Children!
Below is a summary of what we did yesterday, during our Sunday morning session.
- We started our class with our 3 Oms and 3 Chants listed below
Om Sri Ganeshaya namaha, Om Sri Saraswathye namaha, Om Sri Sat Gurubyoh namaha
- We learnt the following three shlokas:-
1) Vakratunda Mahaakaaya sooryakoti samaprabha nirvighnam kurume deva sarva karyeshu sarvada2) karãgre vasate lakshmīḥ, karamūle sarasvatī karamadhye tu govindaḥ, prabhāte karadarśanam .3) Diipa-Jyotih Para-Brahma Diipa-Jyotir-Janaardanah Diipo Haratu Me Paapam Diipa-Jyotir-Namostute
- After some Yoga stretches and poses we did our meditation game. The kids are doing great learning to count the numbers in Sanskrit! We then sang our two bhajans.
1) gaṇeśa śaraṇam, śaraṇam gaṇeśa. gaṇeśa śaraṇam, śaraṇam gaṇeśa.
vāgīśa śaraṇam, śaraṇam vāgīśa. vāgīśa śaraṇam, śaraṇam vāgīśa.
sārīśa śaraṇam, śaraṇam sārīśa. sārīśa śaraṇam, śaraṇam sārīśa.
2) Great God Ganapati (Action song)
Great God Ganapathi, I bow to Thee, Elephant faced One, I bow to Thee
Delight of Lord Shiva, I take refuge in Thee, O big bellied son of Mother Parvathi
Infinite Om, Oh I bow to Thee , You ride on your mouse and win Victory
- We moved on to chanting the Bhagavad Gita : Chapter 18 41st Shloka from our handbook.
- In our this week's session we heard the story of the Silly Goose and then worked on making our Silly Goose craft.
- We wrapped up our session and moved to the temple for Aarthi and closing prayers.
It is always a lot of fun interacting with all of our kids and hope all of you enjoyed our class as well. Next Balavihar class is on Sunday Sept 30th . Looking forward to seeing all of you at our next class.
