Sep 23, 2018 - Toddler / Pre K (PM Sunday)

Dear Parents,

Hari Om

This week's class started with opening prayers and Hari Om game.

We did stretches, yoga and learned a new pose(Tree Pose). Kids enjoyed doing the tree pose and they made sure the parents practiced along with them.
We chanted the following:

ॐ श्री गणेशाय नमः
oṃ śrī gaṇeśāya namaḥ

ॐ श्री सरस्वत्यै नमः
oṃ śrī sarasvatyai namaḥ

ॐ श्री सत् गुरुभ्यो नमः
oṃ śrī sat gurubhyo namaḥ

We discussed various names of Ganesha and while looking at his poster kids identified his unique features - elephant head, twisted trunk, big ears and huge tummy.
Visualizing these features we chanted vakratunḍa mahākāya which we learned in our previous class.

We then put our palms together, held them in front of us like a book, and repeated the below new sloka

कराग्रे वसते लक्ष्मीः करमूले सरस्वती ।
करमध्ये तु गोविन्दः प्रभाते करदर्शनम्  ।।
karāgre vasate lakṣmīḥ karamūle sarasvatī ।
karamadhye tu govindaḥ prabhāte karadarśanam ।।

We learned that Lakshmi, the Goddess who gives us the riches of the mind, resides at our fingertips. Sarasvati, who gives us knowledge, resides at the base of our hands and Krishna lies in the center.

We then recited 2 bhajans Ganesha saranam and Great God Ganapathi(action song) learned in the previous class.

Note: All the slokas and bhajans we learn in our class are in "My Prayers" book.

We chanted Bhagavad Gita chapter 18 -  41st sloka from our handbook. At home, please watch this video on youtube and practice Chapter 18, Verse 41

Played meditation game and revised the Sanskrit numbers.
We all enjoyed the story "Silly Goose" which conveys how we all are loved for what we are and not for the possessions we have.
Kids had fun putting together the "Goose Craft with the red feather".

We attended the closing prayers at the Temple.
