Hari Om Parents and Children!

Welcome to our 2018-2019 Balavihar Sun 9.15am Toddler/Pre K session!!  It was lovely seeing all our returning families and new families. We look forward to a fun and exciting year learning along with all our kids.  Parents, please look out for my emails, every week, giving a short summary of what we covered. 

Below is a summary of what we did yesterday, during our Sunday morning session. 

• We started our class with our  3 Oms and 3 Chants listed below 
  

           Om Sri Ganeshaya namaha, Om Sri Saraswathye namaha,  Om Sri Sat Gurubyoh namaha

• Did a round of introductions to get to know each other. It was nice to see our last year session kids and loved getting to know all our newer kids. We briefly talked about guidelines and class format  for our newer parents.
• We learnt two shlokas:- one for Lord Ganesha-

Vakratunda Mahaakaaya   sooryakoti samaprabha

nirvighnam kurume deva   sarva karyeshu sarvada

And a shloka to say immediately when we wake up

karãgre vasate lakshmīḥ,  karamūle sarasvatī
karamadhye tu govindaḥ,   prabhāte karadarśanam

• We did a few Yoga stretches and poses and then after that learnt two bhajans. Ganesha Saranamand Great God Ganapathi.

gaṇeśa śaraṇam, śaraṇam gaṇeśa.       gaṇeśa śaraṇam, śaraṇam gaṇeśa.                                         

vāgīśa śaraṇam, śaraṇam vāgīśa.        vāgīśa śaraṇam, śaraṇam vāgīśa.

sārīśa śaraṇam, śaraṇam sārīśa.          sārīśa śaraṇam, śaraṇam sārīśa.

Great God Ganapathi, I bow to Thee,   Elephant faced One, I bow to Thee 

Delight of Lord Shiva, I take refuge in Thee,  O big bellied son of Mother Parvathi 

Infinite Om, Oh I bow to Thee ,   You ride on your mouse and win Victory 

• After bhajans we played our meditation game and learnt to count Sanskrit numbers from 1 to 10. After that we chanted the Bhagavad Gita : Chapter 18 41st Shloka from our handbook.
• We then moved to our two favorite activities of the day ----- Heard the story of  Delightful Bull and learnt the importance of being kind and polite with each other. After hearing the story  the kids worked very eagerly on their Bull craft with a message of Please and ThankYou!
• After craft we wrapped up our session and moved to the temple for Aarthi and closing prayers.

We had lot of fun interacting with all of our kids and hope all of you enjoyed it as well.  Next Balavihar class is on Sunday Sept 23rd. Looking forward to seeing all of you at our next class.
