We had another exciting week of class!
After meditation and gItaa chanting, we jumped straight into discussion mode :).
They had a surprise oral quiz about the mahaabhaarata characters and the family tree. We were amazed at how much they remembered and were able to recollect the smaller details as well. Sometimes, the 'names' were stumping them. It would be 'ummm...., that guy who was killed in that war...' or something of the like :). But collectively, as a class, we were able to get the timelines of the people in the epic very well!
We have given a handout of the family tree as well, as it becomes a handy reference guide just in case. Knowing these shall turn out important as we go along. Because we will be referencing these characters as examples when we are learning many of the values during the year. If they haven't already done so, we would certainly encourage them to read the 'Mahabharata by Rajaji' (it is available at our bookstore). It is a great read for adults as well!
H.W. - Practice the first 2 verses of gItaa chanting at least 3 times before the next bala vihar class.
