Hari Om Parents,
We had a good class today, where we learnt about the first letter in our Alphabet Safari of Values, A= Aspiration.
Class started with OM chanting, followed by chanting the prayer Om Sahanavavatu, and explained the significance and meaning of the prayer.
We repeated each line 3 times to assist children in memorizing.
We explained the meaning of Aspiration , and brainstormed ideas with the children and asked them to give example of what made them happy and how did they achieve their dreams/goals. We had several exciting ideas that came forth such as wanting to become a Swimming and Soccer teacher, wanting to watch Star Wars , going to School etc.
We also taught them a story of Dronacharya testing his pupils (Pandavas and Kauravas) to determine who is the best archer. Arjuna was the only one who passed the test as he had single pointed determination and kept his focus only on the target (eye of the bird).
We further accentuated the single pointed focus by playing the balloon game. The children had an enjoyable time jumping higher and higher trying to reach for the balloon.
We also taught them Ekadantham Vinayakam, and explained the meaning. We have decided to have our monthly program on December 9, 2018 and will start planning the program and practise sessions soon.
