Shlokas:
  1. Sahanavavattu (opening prayer)
  2. Introduced Sarvamangala Mangalay Shloka on Goddess Parvathi
  3. Poornamadah (Closing Prayer)

Lesson:
We Started the class with the shloka chanting.  Most of the children had the “My Prayers” book. Those who don’t have it please buy it from our book store.  

We talked about Ganesh Chaturthi and children shared how they celebrated in their homes.  

Introduction to the main topics for the Balavihar 2018-19
  • Mahabharata - Virata Parva onwards
  • India - Sacred land

Review of Mahabharata from grade 5
  • Karna, Lac Palace, Bakasura
  • Draupadi, Subhadra
  • Rajasuya Yagnya, Jharasandha
  • Pandavas and Kauravas
  • Game of Dice, Grace of Sri Krishna
  • Pandavas Gamble again and sent to the forest for 12 years and 1 year incognito.  
Geeta Chanting:
Bhagavad Gita:  Last year we had done 40 verses of 18 chapter.  This year we have to do the rest. Children were taught the verses 41 and 42.  Children will be earning points for memorizing the verses. Please encourage your children to practice at home.  

Activities:
Quiz:  Quiz was sent home.
Crossword Puzzle: Children enjoyed doing the puzzle.
Game:  Finding the partner , game was played.  Every child was asked to pick a name from a bag and find their partner.  For example - if a child picked Jarasandha, he had to find his partner who had the paper that said -  king of Magadha. As they found their partner they had to line up and dismissed for Aarathi.

  • Please bring a notebook, Pencil / Pen / Eraser to take notes, a small binder to keep any sheets of paper that we might distribute in the class and My prayer book .
