Hari OM! Parents,
Last Friday was a special night for all of us. It was our annual class play. The children were just amazing and gave a flawless performance.
It was because of you parents that that the children could write the script and enact it. We are blessed to be part of this class.
Some of the children could not participate for various reasons. They also gave their contribution in many ways. We missed them immensely!
We are sending you a summary of the play as some of you could not be present.
Our play was titled ‘Arise Awake’
It was based on the famous mantra from the Katho Upanishad, which was made famous by Swami Vivekananda.
Swamiji used it to inspire the country men to obtain political freedom from colonization, inspired them to “STOP” not until the goal is realized.
We used it in our play to inspire the children to learn from our Hindu scriptures and Culture which we are learning in great detail this year.
We keep emphasizing in every class that we can see love around us only if we see the same lord present in every being around us
Follow an alert life and walk through the path shown by the masters, and reach the land of perfection is our goal
We also emphasized on our Pujya Gurdev’s famous teaching, ‘If we rest we rust’
We show cased the above message in our play in the form of 2 stories
1. The first story was on King Bruce and the spider. King Bruce was a great warrior, but after fighting 6 great wars he lost to King Edward of Scotland. He finally runs away, but had a lot of time to reflect on his life. He was finally inspired be a small spider trying to build her web beautifully after failing 6 times. He drew parallels to his life and was inspired by the spider to fight King Edward once again and won the war. He was finally king of his beloved Scotland
2. The next story was from the Ramayana. Ravana had abducted Sita Ji. Sri Rama takes help from the monkeys to find his beloved wife. Hanuman ji, even though blessed with mighty powers, was not ready to perform the mighty task. Finally the bear Jambavan inspires him and Hanuman ji inspite of many obstacles is able to find Sita Ji.
The message was, that sometimes in life we face challenging situations and feel disheartened. But if we are sincere then the lord does send a guru in some form to help us reach our goal.
Lastly we played a video of the patriotic song written by the Nobel Laureate, Sri Rabindanath Tagore. This song is an inspiration to all to walk our journey of life without fear, even if we have to walk alone
Thank you dear parents for helping teach this message to the children.
We too learned a lot along with the children.
Our next Bal Vihar is on Friday, March 15th
We have a 12th grade BV student coming to our class and sharing a great topic and experiences with us. Hope the children will not miss it.
