3/4/19

Mar 3, 2019 - Grade 3 (PM Sunday)

Hari Om Parents!

Update of class on March 3rd,

We started our class with opening prayer.

We learned about how India/Bharat was named after great King Bharata. Great-grandson of Priyavrata & son of Rsaba.

We saw three lives of Bharata
    0.    As a great, learned & wise king, who after starting spiritual life got attached to a fawn(baby deer).  So, the important lesson learned here was "Attachment" causes suffering/is a distraction from the main goal of human life which is to attain moksha/liberation. Also, a person is born as what he thinks at the time of death. So, if we are able to think about Lord at the time of death we attain Moksha, for which we need to practice throughout our lives.
    0.    King Bharata's next life as deer.
    0.    Third birth as Jada Bharata, where he, having knowledge of previous lives, chose to stay silent and later when he spoke he surprised everyone including the king Raghugana.

Next, we learned about Mahasivaratri & Kurma Avatar. Few kids knew the story and helped us narrate the story to the rest of the class.

We next played " Game of Cooperation" as an extension to the story of " Churning of Milky Ocean". This game was given by another Balavihar teacher @ Harrisburg.

We divided the kids into devas & asuras. 5 kids in deva group & 4 teams of asura with 3 kids in each team. Each kid from Deva group had to offer something to get the cooperation of the asura teams and kids could get any team to cooperate to help churn the " Candy" ocean!! Kids enjoyed this game.

We practiced Dasavathra stotram & listened to Swamiji's Geeta chanting.

We finished the class by chanting & writing " Om Namo Bhagvate Vasudevya"!
