Hari Om parents,
In this week's class, we started with opening prayers followed by daśavatāra stotram. Kids learned daśavatāra stotram in the previous class and practiced more in this class. Most of the kids are able to recite. We will share the audio file on the Whatsapp group and please ask your child to learn to recite the stotram along with the audio.
Next kids learned about priyavrata - second son of the first Manu. We made a family tree of the manu & his wife satarūpa. They had 3 sons and 2 daughters. priyavrata, divided Earth into 7 continents and let each of his seven sons rule. North America, known as Krauncadvipa in Sanskrit, was given to dyutimāna.
Kids heard a story about surrendering to Divine Will. Please ask them about the story. If they have difficulty remembering, help them by saying "It's the Lord's wish. Whatever happens, happens for the best".
We also learned about priyavrata's great-grandson, ṛṣabha. He was a very learned king loved by all his subjects because he saw God in all. He had 100 sons, which prompted a lot of discussion of how is it possible. We soon moved the discussion to how ṛṣabha taught his kids to be a great human being. To help stay and become a person with a pure heart and free mind- we need to answer these 3 questions
- What is the most important work?
- When is the right time to do the work?
- Who is the most important person?
We finished the class by practicing madhurāṣṭakam and listening to Swamiji's Geeta chanting.
Next Class (02/24/2019): Please note that there is no class this coming Sunday.
