Hari Om parents,
We started our afternoon session with opening prayer, Guru stotram, Govinda Damodara stotram and learnt the 5th and 6th slokams of Krishna ashtakam.
This week's topic of My 24 teachers was about Honey-Gatherer.
Bees collect honey with great trouble, but a honey gatherer takes away the honey depriving the bees. Similarly people hoard wealth and other things with great difficulty but they have to leave them all when they depart leaving for someone else to enjoy. We explained to kids how it is not good to hoard anything neither sharing with others nor enjoying themselves. Honey Bees teach us not to hoard things and a honey gatherer teaches us to enjoy what we saved.
We narrated the stories of Alexander the great and the Greedy Barber to emphasize the above moral.
The topic of Krishna Krishna everywhere was Rasa Lila.
We talked about how Bhagawan is deeply touched by the simplicity and intense devotion of his devotees. We also talked about how the Gopas and Gopis would forget whatever they have been doing and would rush to Lord Krishna whenever he played the flute especially Radha who was very special. We told them about Dandia dance during navarattri's so the kids could relate well.
Towards the end of the class we all recited Bhagawad Gita, 18th chapter slokas 41-58 and with Swamiji's guidance learnt 59 and 60.
Please have the kids learn the slokas as we planning to record them in our next class. The kids will earn points for their teams.
Also, Kindly get the kids involved in the Annadaanam seva project, details of which have been sent in an earlier email. It is a nice way of teaching them to share with the needy.
HARI OM,
Thank you,
Purna and Rama.
