11/3/18

Nov 2, 2018 - Pre-k/Toddler (Friday)

Dear Parents,

Hari Om!!
This week's class started with opening prayers and Hari Om game.

We did stretches, yoga and learned few new poses( Including Tree Pose and Turtle Pose). Kids enjoyed doing the tree pose and they made sure the parents practiced along with them.
We chanted the following 3 times each followed by Sahana Bhavatu:

ॐ श्री गणेशाय नमः
oṃ śrī gaṇeśāya namaḥ

oṃ śrī sarasvatyai namaḥ

oṃ śrī sat gurubhyo namaḥ

As Deewali is just in few days, we discussed about Ram Pariwar and how Hanuman was great devotee of Rama. We also discussed about Hanuman's Monkey face, tail and about his parents (Anjaniya and Vayu).

We then put our palms together and repeated the below slokas

Sarasvati Namastubhyam Varade Kaama-Ruupinni |
Vidya[a-A]arambham Karissyaami Siddhir-Bhavatu Me Sadaa ||

brahmArpaNaM brahma haviH brahmAgnau brahmaNA hutam ।
brahmaiva tena gantavyaM brahmakarmasamAdhinA ।।

We did following two Bhajan on Hanuman

Anjanaya Veera Hanumantha Sura
Vayu Kumara Vanara Veera
Anjanaya Veera ...
Vayu Kumara ...
Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram,
Seetha Ram Jai Radhey Shyam (4X)

Standing Bhajan

Great God Hanumanjee, I bow to Thee,
Monkey faced one, I bow to Thee,
Delight of Lord Rama, I take refuge in Thee,
O big strong Son of Mother Anajani,
Infinite Om, Oh I bow to Thee,
You fight with all Evil and Win Victory.

We played meditation game and counted pebbles in English and Sanskrit up to 14.

We all enjoyed the story "How Hanuman helped Rama to find Sita" and talk about various characters including Sampti, Jambanth and Ravana.

As we all know Deewali is festival of Deeyas and Sweets, so this week we did the craft making Dewali greeting card with beautiful Deeya on it.

We chanted Bhagwat Geeta Chapter 18th verse  41, 42 and 43 and we request parents to practice kids at home whenever possible.

Towards the end, we played another game called "Head,  shoulders, knees and toes in Sanskrit" and kids thoroughly enjoyed it.
