Dear Parents,
We had our 17th Balavihar session on Sunday, February 10th. Our next class is on February 24th.
We started our class at 9:15 with opening Prayers. We had 22 students in class.
Our topics for this week:
1. We practiced chanting verses 41-58 of Chapter 18. The last 6 verses were new to many of us this week so we spent some extra time on those. We recorded our chanting as a class video which earned us 38 points for the house of Krishna's Cowboys. We received the following feedback about our chanting from the Geetha Chanting Sevaks. Since this feedback is being provided after seeing the video of the whole class of 22 students chanting, it is difficult focus to pinpoint who all may be causing this. Please pass this along to your 4th grader as we will not be seeing them for 2 more weeks and it will be good information for them to have as they continue their practice at home. (FEEDBACK: in samaH sarveShu bhUtesHu (18:54, 3rd quarter), the H should sound like an "s" - samassarveShu bhUteShu.)
2. We practiced chanting the Govinda Damadora Stotram
3. We watched the Dhenukasara Vadham story and briefly discussed the value (s) the story is teaching us.
4. We discussed a story from the Balavihar Monthly Magazine which brought up an unexpected discussion around how many of the children are NOT receiving this magazine at home. If you're one of those families who is not recieving this magazine; please contact our admin team to make them aware of it, so we can get this corrected. This is a popular publication with our children as it contains many illustrations, stories, puzzles and jokes that are appealing to them.
Some reminders:
1. Please register your child now for the Geetha chanting Yagna. You can find the registration link at the Chinmaya Vrindavan website mentioned above. Or you may go here.
2. Our next class on the 24th is a field day; fun games and activities for all ages. Your 4th grader should come to class by 9:15 as usual. However, unless they have a language class, they don't need to bring their book bags! They should dress in blue to support the spirit of the Krishna's Cowboys house. We will send a WhatsApp reminder about this prior to the 24th. (If you're not getting WhatApp message about this class, that means we don't have our mobile number for WhatsApp. Please reply to this message with the number you would like to use).
3. Please note that our upcoming Seva Project supplies are due in the Ashram ,before Saturday, Feb. 16th. More about this below. Our balavihar/ashram has been doing annadaanam/Soup kitchen (food donation) for the homeless from different grades each month. Grade 4 is scheduled for this month.
