October 7, 2018 - Kindergarten (PM Sunday)

Hari Om Swamiji and Coordinators,

This is week 5 of Bal Vihar and we are moving steadily along in the Alphabet safari.
We started the class with chanting of Om 3 times, followed by Om Sahanavavatu (this slokha is in the My Prayers Book). Many of the children are able to chant it well. We also spent a few minutes discussing the meaning of the slokha.

We discussed in detail the letter D for Daddy. The children were all very excited to share some interesting stories about how they spend time with their Daddy.
We narrated the story "Father's Day" which tells us about the history behind how June 19th was chosen as the day to celebrate father's and give recognition to our fathers.

We also discussed the various qualities of our fathers and the activities that we do with them at home and how they help us in our daily life. We also read two picture books
"Daddy Hugs" and "The Very Best Daddy of All" , which further accentuated all the qualities and traits of Dads and we all unanimously agreed that "Our Dads are the BEST"

We colored "D is for Daddy". We have also provided the children with a sheet of paper called " Interview with Dad" as a fun activity for the children to do with their fathers and bring to the next class to share with everyone.

As a continuation of our efforts to prepare for the monthly program on December 9, 2018, we sang "Raghupathy Raghava Raja Ram" , and listened to Sre Ramachandra Kripalu". The children gave an excellent rendition of "Raghupathy Raghava Raja Ram". and from the following classes we hope to get the children to do some actions and dance.

We also continued to learn " Ekadantha Mahakayam and Ramaya Rama Bhadraya" Slokhas. Both of these slokhas the children were able to chant quite well.
We will finalize all the roles of the children for the program in the next class.

Thank you and Hari Om.
