Hari Om Parents,
This week we started our class with our 3 Oms and 3 Chants listed below
Om Sri Ganeshaya namaha, Om Sri Saraswathye namaha,
Om Sri Sat Gurubyoh namaha
We chanted the following three shlokas:-
- Vakratunda Mahaakaaya sooryakoti samaprabha nirvighnam kurume deva sarva karyeshu sarvada
- Karãgre vasate lakshmīḥ, karamūle sarasvatī karamadhye tu govindaḥ, prabhāte karadarśanam .
We discussed about Goddess Sarasvati and while looking at her picture, kids identified the things unique to her – White saree, 2 hands holding Veena, the other hands holding japa mala and the book.
Visualizing these features we repeated the shloka -
- sarasvati namastubhyaṃ varade kāmarūpiṇi ।
vidyārambhaṃ kariṣyāmi siddhirbhavatu me sadā ॥
After some Yoga stretches and poses we did our meditation game. The kids are doing great learning to count the numbers in Sanskrit!
We then sang our two bhajans.
- Durga Bhajan
jaya jaya devii, jaya jaya devii, durgaa devii sharaNam
jaya jaya devii, jaya jaya devii, durgaa devii sharaNam
kanaka durgaa devii sharaNam, kanaka durga devii sharaNam
- Great God Ganapathi (Action song)
Great God Ganapathi, I bow to Thee,
Elephant faced One, I bow to Thee
Delight of Lord Shiva, I take refuge in Thee,
O big bellied son of Mother Parvathi
Infinite Om, Oh I bow to Thee
You ride on your mouse and win Victory
We moved on to chanting the Bhagavad Gita : Chapter 18 - 41st and 42nd Shloka from our handbook. At home, please watch this video on youtube and practice the Verses 41 and 42.
In our this week's session we heard the story of the Lakshmi and Shreeya and then worked on making our Devi Stand-up Card.
We wrapped up our session and moved to the temple for Aarthi and closing prayers.
