Oct 5, 2018 - Grade 5 (Friday)

हरी ॐ

Dear Parents,

It is an absolute pleasure to have a class of curious, and attentive children. Since we had a few distractions in class, some of the children had to be separated from their buddies. We hope it did not cause any friction...

The stories from the Mahabharata continue to have the greatest pull, with intermittent questions on the characters/situations and discussions on its validity in today's world. For example, the idea of cloning may have been born when Gandhāri split the lump of flesh into a 100 pieces to form the sons of Dhritarashtra.

This week our schedule was as such:

** Opening Prayers: Shanthi mantra, Vakrathunda mahākāya, Sarasvati namastubhyam, Guru Brahma, Buddhir Balam

** Ganesha Pancharatnam: Verse 3 was taught. Verse 1, 2 and 3 were practiced.
The recording of Verse 1, 2 and 3 recitation will be sent on the Whatsapp group. There are 2 recordings, one of the boys and one of the girls. A healthy competition👍

** Mahabharata - Pandu's stay in the forest with his wives - the curse he received from Rishi Kindama - Birth of Yudhishtira, Bheema, Arjuna, Nakula and Sahadeva - birth of Duryodhana and the evil omen - Vidura's advice to Dhritarashtra - Education of the Sons of Pandu from Suka in the valley of Satasringa and their weapons of choice - birth of Sons of Dhritarashtra - Pandu's weak moment and subsequent death - Kunti and sons return to Hastinapura - Duryodhana's hatred for Bhima and plotting his end - royal princes learn from Kripa Acharya - story of Kripi and Drona - King Drupada insults Drona - Bheeshma enrolls the princes under Dronacharya

** Geeta Chanting - Swamiji's video on Verse 45 and 46 of Chapter 18 was played and the children chanted along. We request you to have the children practice once a day.

If you are not part of the 'Friday5th Grade' WhatsApp group, please respond to this email with your number, and you will be added.

Wish you all a very Happy Navarathri🙏

Pranāms,
