Oct 21, 2018 - Grade 9 (AM Sunday)

Hari om 9th-grade parents,

Hope you all had a great festival season!

In order to celebrate the navaraatri festivities along with all our Bala Vihar families, as well as to inculcate the importance of knowledge (vidyaa), we celebrated saraswati pooja at our ashram this weekend.

You may have already attended or heard from your children how we had all assembled in the temple, sat in discipline in neatly arranged rows and did the pooja along with chanting the 'saraswati aShTottaram'!  The priest led the pooja and the children followed the chantings.  It was amazing to see the older children paired up with the younger grades, all of them sitting in perfect lines and doing pooja in their own thaali-s!  They got to take home the saraswati devI picture that they worshipped.  (Our suggestion, keep the picture in your pooja room or use it as a bookmark in one of your spiritual guidance/Bala Vihar books!)

Due to the celebrations, we had a short class.  During that time, we revised some of our previous topics and introduced about the different types of scriptures we have - the shRuti-s, smRuti-s, puraaNa-s and itihaasa-s.  We will discuss them in further detail in the upcoming weeks.

We also did our gItaa chanting practice.  We are impressed to see more hands go up when we ask who has been practising!  Some say, we 'looked' at it. We appreciate their honesty :).  But we will get them all to practice.  It will be doubly beneficial if you encourage and remind them time to time as well. We have learnt till verse #49 right now.

This weekend, we have the CORD walkathon at the Mercer County Park. You must have received emails regarding the event, as well as the Field Day after that.  Please register yourself and your children to attend both events.  We will have lots of fun, along with walking for one of the best causes!

See you at the park!

We will see the students in the class in November.

Until then, stay warm... Brr... It's getting cold :).
