Sep 28th , 2018 - Grade 6 (Friday)

Hariom Parents,
Happy to see the children come to the class on time and in Indian attire.
We started the class with Starting prayers, reciting a few shlokas and attendance.
We continued the discussion on temples and cities that the children either know off or have visited in the recent past. Request you to talk to your children about this as some of them are still unable to bring up any temple, city they visited and a saint they know about. A short discussion with you may help and we will help them out too.
Following this 15 min discussion about India – Temple, city and saints, we continued the review of Mahabharata – Adiparva and Sabhaparva.  We essentially went over the Q&A from the Part 1 children handbook of Mahabharata. It was exciting to see the knowledge that the children have either retained from Grade 5 session and / or from your teachings and discussions at home. We plan to discuss the lessons learned or teachings from these sections before we begin the discussion on Virat Parva and the part 2 portion of the Mahabharata.
We request the parents to buy the Mahabharata Part 1 and Part 2 Children handbook and have the children bring those books along to the classroom.  Many of them may have the part 1 from last year in that case request you to buy just the part 2 handbook. This is available in the ashram book store.  We follow this book for the core content and will discuss the details in the class.  It also helps the children do some self-reading on their own as well. So appreciate if you can buy this book.
We also chanted verses 43 and 44 of chapter 18, by following our swamiji on the Geeta chanting video that was telecast in the classroom. We have requested them to practice these so they could memorize the above verses. Request your guidance on this to make them practice on their own once or twice. We will also continue our joint practice in the class as well.
The children went to the assembly hall @ 8:10 pm as we had the inaugural session of our vrindavan house team event which helps youths across grade to collaborate and participate in events as a team.  This was followed by aarthi and pledge in the assembly hall.
I hope the children are starting to enjoy the sessions and if there is anything that we can do to make the learning more fun and enjoyable please let us know.
