Dear Parents,
Thank you all for attending the brief session in class! As previously informed our curriculum this year includes the Mahabharata (till Virata Parva) and short biographies of some of our prominent sages and saints. The following was covered at class:
**Shantanu, the King of Hastinapura - his marriage to Ganga - the subsequent birth of Devavrata (Gangeya) - The terrible vow undertaken by Devavrata giving him the name ‘Bhishma’ - Shantanu’s marriage to Satyavati - the birth of Chitrangada and Vichitravirya - the swayamvara for Amba, Ambika and Ambalika - Amba’s wrath.
We discussed how the knowledge was transferred in the Guru-Sishya format in a Gurukulam, and about our Chinmaya Guru Parampara, that starts with Guru Dakshinamurthy and ends with Pujya Gurudev (Swami Chinmayananda) and his Sishyas.
